Indigenous Education

Our responsibility to create socially responsible citizens includes teaching our students to respect and understand the cultural heritage of others. In an effort to support this, all of our students participate in Indigenous Education. Our curriculum includes authentic programming on Indigenous history, accomplishments and perspectives. The classroom is a safe and supportive environment for students to explore these topics and engage in meaningful conversations.

At Sunrise, we promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous culture in our classrooms through learning activities such as:

• Indigenous performers
• Elder teachings in schools
• Indigenous student groups
• Indigenous books in classroom libraries
• Cultural crafts and activities
