Clinician Services

At Sunrise, we provide student services to promote inclusion and meet the needs of students who have exceptional learning, social/emotional, behavioural, sensory, physical, cognitive/intellectual, communication, academic or special health care needs.

Our schools have a team of professionals to support personal and social development and develop educational programming based on individual student needs.

Occupational Therapists

Occupational therapists help students engage in meaningful and purposeful daily school activities. They assess what the student needs to do throughout the day in order to be successful and engaged in school life and help to promote a match between the student’s abilities and the demands of the educational activities.

Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists identify and address the underlying physical impairments that impact a student’s ability to engage in meaningful and purposeful daily school activities. They help to facilitate the student’s physical capacity to participate and get to the places where educational activities take place including their lunchroom, library, and recess.

Psychologists

School psychologists promote the well-being of students through the development of positive social skills, healthy relationships, tolerance, competence, self-esteem and resilience. They maintain school safety by helping teachers and principals develop safe, healthy and supportive learning environments for all students.

Social Workers

School social workers assist students who are experiencing social, emotional or behavioural difficulties and act as a home-school-community liaison. They ensure the student’s needs are being met in the school and at home through social-emotional and risk/threat assessments, individual counselling and group work.

Speech-Language Pathologist

Speech-language pathologists prevent, screen, identify, assess, diagnose, refer, provide intervention for, and counsel persons with, or who are at risk for, articulation, fluency, voice, language, communication, swallowing and related disabilities.
