High School Apprenticeship Program
The High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) supports our division’s plan for quality career programming that provides students with a full range of strategies, programs, services, tools/resources, learning experiences and opportunities to connect learning to the world of work.
HSAP combines regular high school instruction with part-time on-the-job paid employment/training. Students have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma and get a jump start on a career in transportation, industrial, construction, or service trades.
Through the Career Development and Apprenticeship Support teacher, we will continue to promote the following areas of the Focus on the Future grant:
- Personal awareness and management
- Career exploration and/or skills training
- Learning and planning
- Job seeking and job maintenance
- Career and community experiences
The School Apprenticeship Liaison is the main point of contact between student and employer. They help students with the completion of applications and agreements, and suitable school/work timetables. They also monitor student progress, attendance and work skills throughout the placement.
