2026 School Board Trustee Election

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the following days I will receive nominations for the offices of School Board Trustee via email and in person. Appointments necessary if filing in person.

 

Sept. 16-Sept 22, 2026 between the hours of 8am – 5pm.

The nomination deadline is September 22th at 5pm, we cannot accept nominations after this deadline.

Prospective school board election candidates must register with the Senior Election Official (SEO) during the registration period (June 30-Sept.22) before they may begin to accept contributions, incur expenses, fundraise or borrow money for their campaign.

PLEASE BE ADVISED that our Ward Boundaries for the division have changed. Maps for each ward are currently being commissioned. The adjusted boundaries are located to the right, and the SEO can provide with more information on your specific ward boundary.

Additions / Updates to the Voters List

In accordance with Section 36 of The Municipal Councils and School Boards Election Act (MCSBEA), the
Sunrise School Division Voters List is open for changes or revisions until September 9th, 2026.

At this time the Senior Election Official (SEO) is available to update the voters list by:
•    adding the names of voters who are entitled to have their names on the list;
•    deleting the names of persons who are not entitled to have their names on the list; and
•    making any such other correction of errors to the list as required.

VOTER ELIGIBILITY:
A person is eligible to have his or her name added to the Voters List if he or she is:
1)    a Canadian citizen and at least 18 years of age on election day; and
2)    a resident of the local authority for at least six months prior to election day.

NON-RESIDENT VOTERS

•    Non-Resident voters, ie. Voters who own land but do not reside there, under the MCSBEA are not eligible to vote in the School Board Trustee Election.
